Desert Pointe Productions was formed to provide quality education and artistic entertainment on a pre-professional level to the Yuma community. In addition, provide scholarship opportunities for the artistic development of individual artists.

Desert Pointe Productions is organized exclusively for educational purposes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. As a nonprofit organization, Desert Pointe Productions is designed to promote four main goals in the Yuma community.

Desert Pointe Productions goals:

Provide artists of all disciplines (i.e., dancers, singers, actors, painters, musicians) the opportunity to appreciate, learn, perform, and grow in a supportive and creative environment.
Provide scholarships to community members for the furthering of talent capabilities and education.
Make the arts interesting on a pre-professional level and accessible to the residents of the greater Yuma area.
Present the Yuma community with one artistic production a year.

Desert Pointe Productions was founded in January of 2008, as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. It is the vision of its Executive Director, Shawna Perkins. Having been involved in the dance, music, and theatrical world since childhood has developed her love for the arts. She has earned an Associates of Fine Arts & Dance and a Bachelor’s of Elementary and Secondary Education. She was a teacher of Dance Education at Yuma High School for four years, and also was the director of the Choralairs. She also taught jazz, tap, ballet and modern dance at a local dance studio. While teaching it became evident that there was a need for more scholarships to support local artists in their creative development. There was also a need for pre-professional performance opportunities.

It is her hope that Desert Pointe Productions will make dreams come alive for those desiring opportunities to develop their talents and to entertain the members of the Yuma community.

Desert Pointe Productions’ team of directors, musicians, choreographers, photographers and set designers are all selected for their love of the arts, their dedication to education, and their desire to instill an appreciation for the process in which the artist learns and performs their craft. By these principles, our performers will produce exciting and extravagant works of art for the public to enjoy in a manner never presented to Yuma by "Yumans"! Our Future Outlook

Desert Pointe Productions plans to increase the number of scholarships awarded to Yuma county residents.

Desert Pointe Productions also will showcase a variety of performance genres for the public to enjoy.
